“Your Vision becomes clear only when you look into your Heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, Awakens.”
~ Carl Jung

Awakening the Observer

Most of us, during our waking hours, are perpetually engrossed in thought. We rely on our minds to discern wrong from right, fallacy from truth, danger from security. We have learned to give our minds the ultimate power—controlling everything from our smallest decisions to the measurement of our own self worth.

But because of the power that the mind and ego hold, we often forget that each of us has a dimension within ourselves that is infinitely vaster and deeper than thought. This dimension is the “observer” of the thoughts, the consciousness that is aware of—but not attached to—the ideas we hold in our minds. It is the part of us that allows us to move in a direction that may be in opposition to what our mind dictates but that our intuition says is right. It is the essence of who we are.

This essence is sometimes called our spirit, soul, essential self, or our core being. Throughout the world’s cultural and religious diversity, the common thread is that this essence is characterized by infinite wisdom, profound creativity, and pure peace.

A Body Set In Motion

Why, then are our lives often defined as chaotic, hectic, or stressful? The simple answer is that we have lost sight of our essence. We are indentified with our minds and our egos, which can set in motion a cycle of negative thoughts, emotions, and outcomes. All that is needed to change this cycle is a shift in perception; we set the body in motion in a different direction.

As a coach, I do not set out to give you new beliefs, or to add to your set of rules or values. My purpose is to help you remove that which stands between your current state and your essence; to help you become more conscious of your essential self. This process is vitally important because your essential self is the source of your contentment and creativity. Your essential self knows the Truth of who you are and what your life’s purpose is.

This is the foundation on which I work with a client toward any goal. It may surprise you to learn that connecting to your core of peace can result in anything from discovering what you are truly passionate about to finally getting your doctoral papers submitted, or losing that last 10 pounds.

When you are connected to your essential self, you are able to create a spiritual intent, which is your guiding purpose. Within the structure of that intent, all other positive goals and outcomes will naturally follow. For example, if you set a spiritual intent to be more loving, kind, and gentle, you have acknowledged your overarching purpose. People who are loving, kind, and gentle to themselves naturally take good care of their bodies and make nourishing choices. This means that their lifestyles perpetuate a healthy body image and healthy weight.

Of course, there are many more examples. If you would like more details on my coaching philosophy, please check the Blog page for related topics, or contact me with questions.
